Our Carpet Cleaning Process

A Clean Footprint's preferred method of cleaning is "hot water extraction" which is recognized within the carpet cleaning industry as both the most effective and efficient procedure for cleaning carpets. We have both truck/van mount units as well as small portable hand-held units to complete the services at hand. Carpets cleaned by this method are noticeably cleaner, brighter, softer, and always tend to last longer.

Next, the carpets are then pre-treated with heavy-duty stain and soil removers to problematic areas such as dirt, rust, tar, grease, oily residues, dust mites, and gum. This process is always FREE of charge!

Therafter, steam/hot water and cleaning solutions are mixed within the unit and then injected under high pressure into the pile (bottom carpet fibers) to effectively break up remove stains, harmful bacteria, fungus, chemicals, pollens, tobacco residue, dirt, embedded soils and much, much more within the carpet. The machine draws the dirt and soils out of your carpet through suction and are stored into a holding tank within our trucks or vans.

After the carpets are cleaned, light furniture will be replaced and plastic tabs or blocks are placed under their feet. The pile of the carpet is then raked to help with the drying process. The carpets are left damp to the touch and usually dry within 2-6 hours depending on humidity and air circulation within the home or business.

What about Indentations?
Indentations from heavy furniture may return return back to normal over time. We offer no guarantee that we can remove indentations from heavy furniture. In addition to the pile of the carpet being crushed, the backing of the carpet is indented. Heat, moisture, and hand grooming with our equipment may help, but it will take time to release back to normal, if at all. Severe cases may be permanent.

Routine Cleanings:
One of the most often neglected tasks today is routine carpet cleanings to ensure a safer environment for people and pets. While it makes good sense to have your carpets cleaned regularly not only from an appearance and investment protection point of view, some go without it for years only to have their carpet fibers dull and worn looking from the constant grinding of soil from the foot traffic alone. From a health standpoint, carpets contain bacteria, dust mites, germs, and other substances within their fibers that plays havoic on people with allergy and respiratory problems. Major carpet manufacturers recommend that you have your carpets cleaned every 6-18 months. Heavily traveled areas and people with allergy or respiratory problems may seek quarterly or greater cleaning frequencies.

Other Processess We Offer:
We also offer a method similar to dry foam, known as "Bonnet Cleaning", where a cotton bonnet along with a floor polishing/buffing machine is used. The buffer rotates the cotton bonet and absorbs the dirt and soils from your caprets. We use this method occasionally and only when the carpets aren't as dirty.

Pet Odor & Stain Removal

As we all know, a high percentage of families today have pets in their home. While that loving pet looks so inicient, it can be your carpets worst nightmare!

A Clean Footprint understand that pets are sometimes part of the family. Although did you know that pet accidents such as vomiting and urinating is saturated with a bacteria so harsh that it's harmful to adults and children alike?

Pets urine content constantly changes under the factors of sex, reproductive cyles, health, age, medications, and much more, which may develop into unremovable stains, even a month later. When you find overlooked urine long after the accident has occured its definately time to give us a call so that we may neutralize it. While not all pet stains result in permanent stains, urine can permamently damage carpet dyes and fibers if left untreated. Urine damages carpets by weakening the carpet layers, seams, as well as the seperating and damaging of the backing material (cushion).

After identifying the location the urine has occured, we first pre-treat the urine spot to break the bond of it and the carpet so that it can be extracted.

Enzymes are then applied used to attack the urine which physically destroys the remainings at their source. When using this procedure, your normal results are excellent!

Another issue that consumers face is the "odor" factors left behind from pet accidents. While many purchase off-the-shelf products, they soon find that most of them only mask the odors instead of removing them. If odors cannot be removed, we recommend replacing the carpet (from with a saved scrap piece) along with the backing material (cushion). At times, the flooring itself may need to be replaced.

When you find a spill or accident, you need to act quickly to avoid a permanent stain! Immediately blot up as much of the liquid stain as possible using a white absorbent cloth or paper towel. Gently scrape up semi-solids. Therafter, break up any solids and vacuum over the spot thoroughly.

Never SCRUB or BRUSH any stain as it can harm the carpet fibers and allow the stain to set in the carpet!

Stain removal is a very general term because there are so many different stains as well as many different ways to remove stains. There is a big difference between a spot and a stain. A spot can be cleaned with normal cleaning, but a stain is consider permanent with a normal cleaning. A Clean Footprint is up to the challenge.
